The Four Cups


Cup 1 - I will bring you out and deliver you from bondage

  • Exodus 3:7-10 - (heard their cry ~ salt water / making bricks)

  • Exodus 7:14-11:10 - (passes judgements on Egypt ~ plate activity)

  • Exodus 12:30-32; 14:21-22 - (Rise up and go out!)


Cup 2 - I will redeem you

  • Exodus 12:3 (take a lamb)

  • Exodus 12:5-8 (blood on doorpost)

  • Exodus 12:12-14 (I will pass over)

  • Exodus 13:1-2 (firstborn are His)


Cup 3 - I will take you to Myself as a people

  • Exodus 19:5-6 (a holy nation)

  • Exodus 24:7-8 - (We will obey / Moses sprinkled the blood of the covenant)


Cup 4 -  I will bring you into the land

  • Joshua 3:5 (Get ready!)

  • Joshua 3:14-17 (Crossing the Jordan)

  • Joshua 5:13-15 (Commander of The Lord’s army welcomes Joshua into the land)



A Light Unto the Nations 


Why was Israel preserved?  

  • Isaiah 49:6 - to be a light unto the nations


What does Jesus say of Himself?

  • John 8:12 - I am the light of the world (nations)


The birth, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus forged the path for a new exodus…an exodus from the bondage of sin and death – not just for Israel, but also for the nations!



The New Covenant


Luke 22:14-20  

  • Body given for you (The symbolism for the Passover Lamb)

  • Blood of the new covenant (The symbolism for the blood of the sacrifice)

Jeremiah 31:31-33

  • Torah written on hearts 

    • Are Christians included in this?  

      • Romans 11:17 

      • Ephesians 3:6

  • Which means, under the new covenant, we can live through the power of the Holy Spirit and no longer need to travel to a high priest in Jerusalem in order to be forgiven of sin.  Hallelujah!! 

  • Hebrews 4:14-16 - Jesus is our high priest 

  • 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 - The collective Body of Jesus is the current temple 



The Engagement / The Lord’s Supper


We are at a disadvantage, as we do not understand ancient wedding practices in the same way that the disciples and early church did.  When the disciples drank the cup at “the last supper,” they understood the wedding imagery and symbolism that Jesus was presenting.  They understood that they were making a commitment akin to an engagement…entering a covenant.  And understanding that told them 2 more things:  

  1. The groom would leave – but a gift would soon arrive - Acts 2:1-4

  2. The groom would come again to receive them - Acts 1:10-11


The gift would arrive 50 days after Jesus' resurrection in the form of The Holy Spirit during Pentecost!  And He. Is. Coming. Again. Soon!

Know that each time we take of The Lord’s Supper, we are making a commitment to Him.  


We are agreeing to the New Covenant.


As we contemplate His death, may we remember even more Jesus’ resurrection!  Many prophets die…only one says, “I was dead, but look – I am alive forever and ever!”  Revelation 1:18


Jesus, the Firstfruit was accepted (Leviticus 23:10) – He was raised from the dead.    

Romans 11:16:  That means this ⇨  Our resurrection has been sealed by His!


What is the most accurate description of Jesus in His current state?  Revelation 1:12-16


He is the Passover Lamb.  

He is risen. 

He invites us to be in the New Covenant with Him.

He leads us in the exodus from sin and death.

He will raise us from the dead.

He is coming again!! 


May we celebrate Jesus, the Firstfruits of all who will be raised!

As I write today, a solar eclipse is literally less than 48-hours away.  There is a bit of eclipse hysteria in the air.  People are scrambling to get their approved glasses, and many travel plans are being made in order to get the best possible view.  Some groups see the impending eclipse as a cool learning experience, while others preach that it is a sign of soon-coming doom.  Seems like a good day to broach an end-times subject that many of us don't like to think about: the mark.   Of course when I mention "the mark," I am guessing your mind goes straight to the mark of the beast.  I have spent much time pondering the mark of the beast.  I find in conversing with fellow believers that many are uncomfortable thinking about, discussing, and studying it.  I think a lot of us are more comfortable pretending that Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation do not exist.  Why is this? Are You Willing?

Anyone out there like me...thinking that "the good shepherd" statement made by Yeshua (Jesus) was a simple analogy made up "on the spot" to convey His caring nature?   Oh boy! In my quest to understand the Old Testament (OT), I am finding that so many things in the New Testament (NT) are just re-teachings of original OT teachings.  This good shepherd  statement is a prime example, and it explains why the Judean leaders wanted to stone Yeshua for blasphemy! (John 10:33)  Without the context of the OT, one could not possibly understand the complete gravity of what Yeshua was claiming when referring to Himself as the Good Shepherd.   So, let's take a look... Ezekiel 34 (whole chapter) Jeremiah 23:1-4 John 10 (whole chapter) There is quite a bit of scripture reading today, but if you've been able to take the time to read the above passages, it has probably "clicked" with you as to why the Judeans were divided (John 10:19) and why the Ju

Are you looking for a Christ-Centered Haggadah?  Here are a few of my favorites! 1) This is what I affectionately call "the long version" Haggadah .  I created it in 2021, and to date, that was probably my favorite Passover.  (But let's keep trying, right!?) 2) Because there is a long version, you knew there had to be a "short version" Haggadah , right?  After a few l-o-n-g years 😉, my teenager helped me understand that sometimes a shorter version is just what is needed.   3) If I had all the time in the world, I would use this beautiful (and 40 page!) Haggadah from Torah Resource .  I love the Hebrew recitation, the traditions, and the New Testament connections.  As a matter of fact, I am thinking of pulling a few pages from this Haggadah and meshing it with "the short version" in 2024.  Does that mean we may have a medium version to share next year? 😎😂 4) I am also a big fan of the Haggadah published by Chosen People Ministries (CPM).  An added b
