Passover Part 3: The Door

Hello Friends, and welcome back to Part 3 of our Passover series.  Feel free to click back and review Part 1 and Part 2 to get back in the groove for more Passover talk...I'll be right here when you get back.

Today I want to talk about doors.

The Israelites were instructed to carry out a threshold covenant by sacrificing lambs and covering their doorways with sacrificial blood. Interestingly, later, when the tabernacle in the wilderness was raised, guess where the sacrifices were made?

And you shall set the altar of burnt offering in front of the doorway of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting.

Exodus 40:6 NASB

So, we see the continued pattern of sacrifices taking place at the threshold or doorway.

I would like to submit for your thoughtful consideration that the Bible is full of patterns.  YHVH uses patterns throughout His Word to teach the

The Israelites put the blood of lambs on the doorposts of their homes.

Yeshua, the sacrificial Lamb (John 1:29), said:

I AM THE DOOR

John 10:9

So Passover is about more than just remembering Israel's history.  It is about recognizing Israel's Salvation!

Patterns...

That is the BEST reason I can think of to study Passover.

So, we know that Yeshua is The Lamb and He is The Door, but we are also told that He is The Cornerstone.  Guess what?  That is threshold covenant language!
