  Hello Dear Readers!  Good to be with you as we near another one of YHVH's appointed times.   What are you doing to prepare? I put the above question out to a group recently, and I realized that many are not sure how to prepare for YHVH's appointed times.   For most of us, myself included, following YHVH's calendar is a new adventure.  Just knowing it exists feels like a real accomplishment!     I am no expert on the Appointed Times or in preparing for them, but I am glad to share a few ideas for getting started. 1) Study This is by far the most important aspect of celebrating YHVH's Appointed Times.  Find out what the Bible says about the feast days.  You can always find the beginning of a trail in Leviticus 23 .  Beyond that, doing a word search in Blue Letter Bible can help you find other places in the Bible where each feast is mentioned.  I recommend gleaning as much from scripture as you can about each feast be...

Hello to my Feasting Friends! At the time of this blog post, we are just days away from another appointed time of YHVH.   How. Exciting. You have likely heard of this feast by one of the following names: Shavuot, or... Feast of Weeks, or... Pentecost. These all describe the same appointed time. My personal preference is to call it Shavuot, but you call it whatever you like....Deal? Shavuot is timed by its relationship to the Feast of First Fruits during the week of Passover.   Because of that, some friends will celebrate it at slightly different times, just as some celebrate Passover at slightly different times.   You know my take on calendars by now.  I say celebrate and support one another.  We will know the REAL dates when Messiah returns, until then, let's walk in obedience to The Father and love for our neighbors.  And if we time it just right with our friends, some of us may be able to celebrate a little bit extra!   Let us lo...

Hello Friends and Readers!  Good to be back at the keyboard again.  In Part 2 of this series, we looked at the Blue Letter Bible and the integrated Strong's Concordance and Thayer's Greek Lexicon to examine the word "church" as found in the New Testament.   We discovered that the Greek word "ekklesia" (Strong's G1577 ) and the Hebrew word "kahal" (Strong's H6951 ) can be used interchangeably, and that the Hebrew word goes all the way back to Genesis.   So, if a word equal to the word "church" existed in Genesis, can we believe that "the church" was born in Acts Chapter 2?   I question that. Welcome back to the next installment of "Was the Church Born at Pentecost?"  I promised you in Part 1 that I would share the way I determine relationship between Greek and Hebrew words found in scripture.  Our target word for this series is "church."   Hello dear Friends and Readers!  As I endeavor to study the book of Revelation, I have a new question today.  When was "The Church" born? Seems an easy one, right?!  A quick internet search will give us an answer:  Pentecost.   But, can we trust that answer? Come Seek With Me! Chapter 1 of Revelation states that Yeshua has written letters to the "7 churches."  The churches are named, and we can look them up on a map quite easily.  They are all located in what today is known as southwest Turkey.   Okay.  That seems easy enough. As I studied the chapter, I began to look up words in the original Greek.  It will come as no surprise that the word used for "church" in Revelation is the Greek word "ekklesia" (Strong's Concordance # G1577 ).   Okay.  Still fairly predictable.   Sha-vu-what? Shavuot! You have likely heard of it described using its Greek name, Pentecost.  The Acts 2 celebration of Pentecost is the Leviticus 23 Feast of Shavuot!  (Notice the disciples were still celebrating it after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Yeshua.  I believe this is ONE very compelling reason to learn about it). This is an exciting feast to study, because like Passover, we have seen it at least partially fulfilled in the gifting of The Holy Spirit (Acts 2).  Jewish tradition has recorded that the Torah, or Law, was given during the first Shavuot.
