What Will Happen When Messiah Returns: Avar or Pesach?

 Or Perhaps Both...

Hello Dear Readers and Friends!

If you regularly seek with me, you have been walking along on my recent journey through the book of Revelation.  You may be glad to know that I have completed Revelation and have now started back over "in the beginning."  Today's thoughts actually hit me between the eyes from this week's Torah Portion (Bo) in the book of Exodus.

In my most recent blogs, we have looked at Yeshua's return through different points of view.  I shared from scripture that Yeshua will return as a "thief in the night" to those who are unprepared. But, He will return as the long-awaited bridegroom to those who are actively watching and waiting.

Same Return

Same Yeshua

Different Outcomes

Different Outcomes?  What do you mean?

For those who have had their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life, the return of Yeshua will be a time of great celebration.  These individuals will enter into the Wedding Supper of The Lamb dressed in the fine linen of their righteous deeds.

For those who have not had their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life, the return of Yeshua will be a time of great distress and judgment.  These individuals will be astonished when they see the beast and after 1,000 years will be judged at the White Throne Judgment.

But Debbie, you said you were finished with Revelation.

giggle😉

I am. I promise.  But this week, as I read through Torah Portion Bo in the book of Exodus, I was reminded of the return of Yeshua and some of the imagery we had been noticing back in Revelation.

How?

Through the history of The Passover.

Let's look at the verse that got my attention:

Adonai will pass through to strike down the Egyptians, but when He sees the blood on the crossbeam and the two doorposts, Adonai will pass over that door, and will not allow the destroyer to come into your houses to strike you down.

Exodus 12:23

Notice the two underlined places...

The Hebrew word that has been translated as "pass through" is "avar."

The Hebrew word that has been translated as "pass over" is "pesach."

What do these words tell us about what happened during the night of the first Passover in Egypt?

Let's look at our verse again: Exodus 12:23

Notice who is both "avar"ing and "pesach"ing in this verse.  (Like my Hebrew/English words?)

It is Adonai in both cases!

So what is He doing?

He is overwhelming / overcoming those who are not covered by the blood. (Maybe like a thief in the night?)

And he is skipping over the home threshold of those who have blood on their doorposts. (Maybe like a bridegroom?)

You see, both words, "avar" and "pesach," show us that Adonai went into all the homes of Egypt...including the homes of the Israelites.  But what He did once there, made all the difference.  In the homes without blood, Adonai destroyed.  In the homes with blood, Adonai protected.

This reminds me so much of the 2 ways that scripture tells us Yeshua will return.  For some, those who are not actively watching and waiting with their lamps filled with oil and not dressed in their wedding clothes, Yeshua's return will signal destruction.

For others, who are actively watching and waiting with full lamps and appropriate wedding clothes, Yeshua's return will be a victorious time of deliverance.  A bridegroom returning for His bride.

And He has been gracious enough to give us a concrete example of how it will all go down way back in the book of Exodus.  What a merciful God we serve!

He will Avar (pass through / to destroy) AND
He will Pesach (step over / protect).

How He comes to us will be determined by the blood of the covenant.  Are we in covenant?  Are we covered by the blood of The Passover Lamb?

These are questions that must be answered by each one of us individually.

A lot of Christians think that Passover is an old Jewish celebration that is irrelevant to the church.  But right here, in the Passover text, we see critical information about how Yeshua will return.

Irrelevant?

I will let each reader decide for him/herself.

I hope you will decide to learn about the Appointed Time of Passover, and all of the other special appointed times.  I will guarantee that they will only add to your walk as a believer in Yeshua.

Guarantee. You.

Thank you for continuing to seek with me.  I will be back soon to invite you to continue to....

Note: This video blog was made for a specific bible study group, so you will hear greetings/goodbyes that may not be specific to you.  Also, note that I got a parable's final verse mixed up with another parable's final verse.  It doesn't really change the point I am making, but if that is going to bother you, please skip this ;)
