Christmas in July: Part 1
One of the few pictures I have with my dad made in front of my Christmas tree circa 2007 |
Like most of my readers, I have celebrated Christmas for my 40+ years. Most of those years I did not have a thought in my mind as to how it all started...except for the obvious connection to the birth of Jesus. Santa just came because he was supposed to according to tradition. Families gathered over tables because we were merry. Gifts were exchanged with family and friends because of the gifts of the wise men. Indulgence was a thing because...well, because it was Christmas.
The older I get, however, the more I question many things that are a "normal" part of my life.
Christmas is one of them.
I really did not start out to question it. What I started out to do was question why we as believers in Jesus do not celebrate YHVH's feasts.
I did not start out to question Christmas; I started out to question why believers do not celebrate YHVH's feasts.
I have spent the last few years really focusing on that question. Answers have not come easily, but they have been liberating and beautiful.
And they have led to more questions.
My entire world view has been challenged.
My understanding of The Word of YHVH has been strengthened.
And a question has been asked of me...
Will you be obedient to what I have shown you, Debbie?
That really is the key that unlocks more. I have learned that first hand.
So, if you are content with the way things are right now in your walk with YHVH, I suggest you read no further within this series.
You may be offended.
As it is written*, Behold, I lay in Zion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
*quoting Isaiah 8:14
But...if you are seeking to go deeper...seeking more. You may want to read along.
Looking forward to journeying with all who will
Love you, Dear Friend.
ReplyDeleteWhich dear friend is this? It only identifies you as "unknown." Debbie
