Stop Waiting for Sukkot

Hello Dear Friends and Readers!  What a surprising title you've clicked on today.

Stop waiting❓

Those of you who know me or have followed this blog for a while may be scratching your heads, but I promise, I have not changed my mind about the importance of Biblical Feasting for followers of Yeshua.

While the title certainly was crafted to draw your attention, I will be most honored if you hang around and read my humble thoughts, as I have strung a few pearls together and would really like to share them with you.

Like many of you, I have been brushing up on the soon coming Fall Feasts, and I've made some "new to me" connections about Sukkot.  Spoiler alert:  one of my connections is that, while we do have to wait for the calendar to flip to the season of our joy each year, we can (and should) be living in the spirit of Sukkot all year long...and I can prove it.

Before we get to that, my first precious find during this season of study has been in the Psalms.

How precious is Your love, O God! The children of men find refuge in the shadow of Your wings. They drink their fill from the abundance of Your House. You give them drink from the river of Your delights. For with You is the fountain of life - in Your light we see light. Psalm 36:8-10

Is anyone picturing Yeshua standing at the temple during Sukkot, speaking of fountains of living water and being the light of the world?

Yeah, me too♡

Now let's move on to today's topic...

We will being in Exodus 23.  Beginning in verse 14, Israel is told of the "big 3" festivals they should observe each year.  The first is Passover, followed by Shavuot.  Lastly, Sukkot is mentioned.  However, it is not worded as "Sukkot," but by another name: The Feast of Ingathering.

...as well as the Feast of the Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather your crops from the field. Exodus 23:16(b)

Gathering crops from the field...

Is anyone hearing Yeshua talk about the harvest and workers with me?

Don't you say, 'Four more months and then comes the harvest'? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields!  They are white and ready for harvest.  John 4:35

In Matthew 9, Yeshua expands this to say that not only is the harvest ready, but that more workers are needed, and that the disciples should pray for them!

Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He may send out workers into His harvest field. Matthew 9:37

But Yeshua wasn't speaking about literal wheat.

He was speaking about the fruit of the kingdom.

We are told that when Yeshua said this to His disciples he had been "proclaiming the good news of the kingdom in towns and villages around Israel" (Matt 9:35).

Yeshua came to begin the harvest...the ingathering...

Sukkot.

So what are we waiting for?  Let's get to gathering!

Thank you for seeking with me!
