It Is Done!

Hello Dear Friends and Readers!  Well, I made it to the end of the book of Revelation πŸ’₯

There are many thoughts and doctrines that people hold to when it comes to Revelation, but one thing is for certain:  He. Is. Coming. Again. -- Can I hear an Amen?!

As we near the end, we hear The One Sitting on the Throne say,

"It Is Done!  I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End.  To anyone who is thirsty I myself will give water free of charge from the Fountain of Life.  He who overcomes will receive these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son." Rev 21:6-7

HallaluYAH!

But who are these overcomers?  We looked a bit at them a few blogs back, but this seems worthy of a bit more attention.  We want to be overcomers!!

Recall that overcomers are spoken of in relation to the 7 churches at the beginning of Revelation.  We also see them spoken of here:

"...those who are called, chosen, and faithful will overcome along with Him [The Lamb]."  Rev 17:14

If you look this verse up in Strong's, you find that the word "called" is like being given an invitation; "chosen" is like be picked out; and "faithful" is one who is worthy of trust (this is the person you want running your business if you're away πŸ˜‰).

Are you hearing Matthew 22:14 in your head right now like I am?

"For many are called, but few are chosen."

Let's see the context of what Yeshua was talking about, as He made the above statement within His parable about the wedding feast.  Matthew 22:1-14

If you read the passage, you understand that there was a wedding feast and that many were invited (called), but would not come.  So, more were invited (called) and came.  Based on the context of the parable, many must have shown up properly clothed (chosen / picked out).  However, one individual, we are told, was not dressed in clothes worthy of wedding attendance, and was thrown out.

He was called/invited, but he was not chosen/picked out...because he was not found to be faithful/worthy of trust.

Are you following?

If you are reading this, I am going to assume that you have been called.

But how can we be sure that we will be chosen?

How will we prove that we are faithful and trustworthy?

Our. Wedding. Clothes.

That is what the guest in the parable was missing.  He was not dressed for the wedding.

Revelation 19 tells us that there is to be a real wedding!

"For the wedding of The Lamb has come

and His bride has made herself ready,

She was given fine linen to wear,

bright and clean!

For the fine linen is

the righteous deeds of the saints."

What?

Yes, we are saved by faith through grace, but it will be our righteous deeds that allow us to be chosen as His bride!  Our righteous deeds will determine if we are overcomers!!

Recall that even Abraham was saved by faith (Romans 4:3), but his faith was proven by his righteous deeds (Hebrews 11:17).  In other words, Abraham was called by faith but chosen because he acted on that faith and was found trustworthy. That made him an overcomer!

Faith and deeds go hand in hand.  Scripture is clear that it takes both to be an overcomer.  --Recall that the "dragon" of Revelation 12 makes war with the ones who "keep the commandments of God (deeds) and hold to the testimony of Yeshua"(faith).  He is making war with the overcomers.  Thankfully, we know The Lamb and His called, chosen, and faithful ones win!

Okay Debbie, you've made your point.  So what now?

I think now, we need to start making our checklist to see if we are ready for the wedding.  You see, we do not know when Messiah Yeshua, The Lamb, will return.

Yeshua tells the church at Sardis that if they did not wake up, He would come like a thief!  Rev 3:3

Yeshua gives us more insight in the parable of the 10 virgins in Matthew 25.  The virgins were waiting for the bridegroom, and 5 wise ones kept their lamps filled with oil, while all got sleepy. When the bridegroom returned in the middle of the night, only the 5 wise virgins who kept their lamps full were ready.  Ten virgins were called, but only 5 were chosen because they were faithful and trustworthy.

So the question is:

Will Yeshua come to us with a startle, like a thief in the night, or will He come to us like a bridegroom, finding us waiting with our lamps full of oil?

He is coming.  That is certain.

We have been called.  That is evident.

Will we be chosen?

That is entirely up to us and the choices we make.

Will we be found faithful and trustworthy, engaged in righteous deeds?

That is the only way that we will be able to attend the wedding in the proper attire: fine linen.

Those not wearing fine linen, will not be part of the wedding.

Looking for some inspiration?  Become a student of Isaiah chapter 58.  The prophet Isaiah speaks of a "fast" beginning in verse 6.  It is full of ideas for earning beautiful linen wedding clothes.  Pray for an opportunity to participate in the Isaiah 58 fast, and I promise you that your prayer will be answered.  And you will be taking steps toward being found faithful and trustworthy, and being chosen, for you will be involved in righteous deeds.

"Behold, I am coming soon!  How fortunate is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book." Rev 22:7

"And the Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!'

And let the one who hears say, 'Come!'

Let the one who is thirsty come --

let the one who wishes freely take the water of life."

"Yes! I am coming soon!"

"Amen!  Come, Lord Yeshua!"  Rev 22 (portions)

Starting working on your wedding clothes Friends!  He. Is. Coming. Soon.
