Israel Part 6: Unusual Souvenirs...

Go Dawgs!

So, in this blog, I am going to show you some of my favorite souvenirs from Israel.  I had to start with this t-shirt; being a "Dawg" fan keeps peace in the family, as my husband is a graduate of UGA.  If you happen to be offended by this, never fear!  Israel boasts Hebrew t-shirts for every team.
Pottery

Abby found quite a bit of discarded pottery along our journey.  The piece at the top is from Beit Shemesh (think Sampson in Judges).  The bottom two pieces are from Har Megido.  Har Megido in Hebrew = Armageddon in English (think Revelation 16:16).

Sand

We gathered this sand in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen...Caesarea by the Mediterranean Sea.

This was the site of Herod's palace and the home city of Cornelius the centurion.

Rocks

Can you see the salt on the rock to the far left?  Abby fished these rocks out of the Dead Sea.  Attempting to swim in the Dead Sea was an experience! Abby and I are both glad we did it, but we both plan to hold the purses for others if we go back again.  💦😆🏊

Communion Cups

We took communion at The Garden Tomb.  Jesus may or may not have arisen from that specific location, but He did arise, and The Holy Spirit is in that place!  I bought this set of cups to use for our annual Passover.  They are very small and made of olive wood.  Perfect!

A Postcard From a Friend

We visited Mount Nahum, the site where Jesus taught the beatitudes of Matthew 5.  Given the geography, it was easy to see why Jesus chose this location for teaching.  It would have had great acoustics in a time before microphones.  While visiting the church and grounds, a team member purchased postcards for our entire team.  It has the beatitudes written in Hebrew.  Such a sweet sentiment.  I keep it in my Bible now.  💕

And Speaking of My Bible

Due to the amazing teaching that Reggie did as we traveled The Land, I was able to note within the pages of my Bible many of the places we visited.  I love that the focus of our journey was Biblical!

Great Value!

As you can see, I did not have to spend a lot in order to bring home a suitcase full of souvenirs.  If you desire to visit Israel, please know that it can be very affordable through the ministry of Christian Ministry to Israel (CMI).  Once your trip is paid for, you do not have to allot much extra money for food or souvenirs...most food is included, and the best souvenirs are free!  If you have even the slightest notion that you would like to go, PLEASE do not let finances deter you.  There are MANY people who will donate toward your trip, and if God calls you, HE WILL PROVIDE.

Local Friends, there is a "Taste of Israel" meeting planned for November 30th.  It is free to those who want to come.  The "taste" will include:
*Authentic Israeli Food*
*Team Members Will Share About Israel Trips*
*A Celebration of Christmas*
*A Celebration of Hanukkah*

The event is FREE to the first 200 people who sign up, however,  reservations are required.  If you are interested, contact me and I will tell you how to reserve your place.

Shalom Chaverim!
