More about Yom Kippur - Yeshua's Role

 Hello Fall Feast Studiers ๐Ÿ‚

I have been trying to make another video to share with you, but I keep running into roadblocks.  So, for now, I am going to return to my first love and comfort...the keyboard ;)

In my last video, I spoke about the natural observance of Yom Kippur.

1.  Our role -- which is in doing nothing but humbling ourselves, because we cannot add to our own atonement;

2.  The role of the high priest in carrying out the priestly commands for atonement;

3.  And defining sin -- because that is what causes the need for atonement in the first place.

Next I want to draw your attention to 3 things:

1.  Yeshua's role in fulfilling (at least partially) the appointed time of Yom Kippur;

2.  Yeshua's role as the heavenly high priest;

3.  And model prayers of repentance from scripture.

Yeshua's Role in Yom Kippur

In order to see Yeshua's role in Yom Kippur, we must first review the Yom Kippur priestly service from Leviticus 16.  Notice a few things with me:

1) the high priest first had to atone for his own personal sin before performing the service to atone for the sin of the nation;

2) The 2 goats -- one as a sin offering for all the people / one to carry the burdens of all the people into the wilderness;

3) Notice how the burdens are transferred to the scapegoat...by the laying of hands on its head.

Now, I'm going to ask you to read Matthew chapter 27...thinking about the Yom Kippur priestly service in Leviticus 16.  Do you notice any similarities?

If you see it, you're not alone.  Paul confirms for us in 2 Corinthians that Yeshua became the sin offering.  --He was more than the Passover Lamb, He was also the Atonement Sin Offering Goat(s).  I use the plural because He both died as the sin offering and carried the burdens of sin outside the camp.

I hear people say that the Fall Feasts have not yet been fulfilled...but Yom Kippur most definitely has a layer that has been fulfilled.

Atonement For Sin Has Been Made!  HallaluYAH!!!

Perhaps as we continue, we may see glimpses of a layer of the Feast of Trumpets / Yom Teruah that has also been fulfilled...

Want to know more about Yeshua's role as high priest within the context of Yom Kippur?  I will be back soon to invite you to...
