V' Atah Kadosh: Yet You Are Holy
Yet You Are Holy |
Gone through any trials lately? My pastor reminds our church that we are all in a trial, exiting a trial, or about to enter into one. Not super encouraging, but truth can sometimes be hard. I recall the trial that led to today's picture. I felt like there was no way around "the wall." It was a difficult time for sure, but before it, in it, and after it, guess what? Yehovah. Was/Is/Will Be. Holy.
"That's easy for you to say; you don't know my trial, Deb!"
It is likely much harder than I can realize; you're right. But, I know The One who knows your pain, and He does understand. He has experienced the worst pain possible...."He had no form or majesty that we should look at Him, nor beauty that we should desire Him. He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, One from whom people hide their faces. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our pains. Yet we esteemed Him stricken, struck by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities. The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed" (Is 53:2b-5).
In verse 7 of the same chapter we are told that, "He did not open His mouth."
Yeshua, a man of sorrow, a man so despised that people actually hid their faces from Him...stood silently, taking my punishment without uttering a word.
My heart!
And if I had been physically present at that time, would my face have looked upon Him?
He. Knows. Our. Pain.
While Isaiah tells of His silence, the Psalms give us insight into what we would call Yeshua's inner monologue. You may recognize the words of Psalm 22:2, "My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?" But in the midst of knowing that He had been forsaken by Yehovah, Yeshua's spirit utters, "Yet You are holy...."
He. Knows. Our. Pain.
And He understands that our pain does not change the holiness of Yehovah.
Friend, I do not know what you are going through today, but Yeshua does. He knows our pain and much much more. He has faced ridicule, abandonment, and even been forsaken in death. He suffered silently. And all the while His inner monologue testifies, "yet You are holy."
In the midst of trials, may we follow the example of Yeshua and say, V' Atah Kadosh. Yet, You Are Holy.
