Unleavened Bread Day 7

 

Are you still with me?  I'm so glad!  If you have been keeping up with our reading schedule this week, then you already realize that today is a very special day.  Today is the Day of Firstfruits! 


He. Is. Risen!!!


HallaluYAH!!!


Today marks the end of our week-long Feast of Unleavened Bread, but it marks the beginning of something else.  


Today is "Day 1" in our count to the next Biblical Appointed Time.  We will count for 49 days, and on the 50th day we will celebrate Pentecost!


Recall that the risen Jesus walked the earth for 40 days, then ascended back into heaven.  Just 10 days later, the gift of the Holy Spirit was given on the Day of Pentecost.  You can read about it here. The timing was no mere coincidence.  It was part of God's plan from the very beginning, and an appointed time was given for it way back in Leviticus 23, where you will find it referred to as the "Feast of Weeks" in most Bible translations. 


The Biblical feasts of Leviticus 23 are woven together to tell a beautiful story, not just of physical deliverance and salvation, but of spiritual deliverance and salvation.  They form a beautiful tapestry of salvation through the person and sacrifice of Jesus Christ through God's grace and our faith in His costly gift...given to us freely.  


Please join me in celebrating our risen Savior, Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah, today!  I look forward to counting the next 50 days with you to Pentecost!

Are You Willing?

Anyone out there like me...thinking that "the good shepherd" statement made by Yeshua (Jesus) was a simple analogy made up "on the spot" to convey His caring nature?   Oh boy! In my quest to understand the Old Testament (OT), I am finding that so many things in the New Testament (NT) are just re-teachings of original OT teachings.  This good shepherd  statement is a prime example, and it explains why the Judean leaders wanted to stone Yeshua for blasphemy! (John 10:33)  Without the context of the OT, one could not possibly understand the complete gravity of what Yeshua was claiming when referring to Himself as the Good Shepherd.   So, let's take a look...   Hello Dear Friends and Readers!  What a surprising title you've clicked on today.   Stop waiting❓ Those of you who know me or have followed this blog for a while may be scratching your heads, but I promise, I have not changed my mind about the importance of Biblical Feasting for followers of Yeshua. While the title certainly was crafted to draw your attention, I will be most honored if you hang around and read my humble thoughts, as I have strung a few pearls together and would really like to share them with you.
