Joel: Past, Present, and Future ?

Acacia trees have very fragrant blossoms
Hello Friends and Readers!

I am now on a Journey through The Book of Joel.  Full disclosure, I feel like I am just taking notes for this book.  I hope you will stay, because I have some thoughts to share, but I'm not feeling too "prose-y."

First Note:

Joel appears to be divided into three sections:  past, present, and future.  The "past" seems to be about the literal Babylonian invasion.  It is evident that "presently" The Holy Spirit has been poured out.  In the "future" I look forward to the spring flowing out from the House of YHVH to water The Valley of Acacias.

Second Note:

Joel 4:18 mentions The Valley of Acacias (3:18 in some versions).  In the TLV, however, it references it as The Valley of Shittim.  Shittim is the Hebrew word for "acacias."  It is also the proper name of a location.  A quick search took me to Numbers 25 where Shittim is first mentioned in scripture.  Turns out that Shittim is the location where "Israel became bound to Baal of Peor."  I absolutely LOVE that the place where Israel was once "bound" to a false idol god is the VERY PLACE that Joel tells us that the spring of YHVH will water.

I mention that this is a future event, but is it?

In John 7:37-39 Yeshua said that,

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.  Whoever believes in Me, as the Scripture says, 'out of his innermost being will flow rivers of water.'  Now He said this about the Spirit, whom those who trusted in Him were going to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, since Yeshua was not yet glorified."

But shortly after that, Yeshua WAS glorified.

Acts Chapter 2 documents that The Spirit WAS given.

Yeshua authenticates for us that The Sprit IS The Water.

What does that tell us about The Valley of Shittim?

Perhaps the Valley of Acacias ARE being watered.

Perhaps Israel HAS been unbound from false gods by the Power of the Holy Spirit.

Perhaps Shittim IS green and fragrant!

Thank you, as always, for seeking with me!
