Passover and the New Thing I Learned This Year

Our Passover cup placed on a scarf that I bought at the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem
Today is a special day.  As I write, I also celebrate that Yeshua has been raised from the dead, the First Fruits of all who will be raised.  HallaluYAH!  Sometimes, like this year, this celebration falls on the same day as many of my friends celebrate easter.  But did you know, that the holiday of First Fruits was given way back in Leviticus before Yeshua was born, crucified, buried, or raised from the dead?  It was given as a sign...a sign for us to look for Messiah and to recognize Him.
We always set a place for Messiah Yeshua at our Passover table

I have found that all the holidays that I need can be found within the Feasts of The Father. While they are celebrated by Jews, they are not exclusive to them.  They are for everyone who worships and desires to obey the God of Israel.

This year (2020), our family celebrated our 5th Passover.  I can hardly believe it!  While we were a bit lonely due to the shelter in place order, I found it to be even more meaningful than years past.  You see each year as I read my bible, The Father is faithful to show even more of the depth of His Word.  In reading, I was able to glean something truly beautiful that I had never seen before.

So, while we celebrated the Passover and the Exodus of Israel from Egypt, we also talked about the new thing that I learned.  Are you ready?
We set the buffet up to look like the food was on the "dry land"

There is going to be a Second Exodus!

As a matter of fact, the prophet Jeremiah tells us, not once, but twice that the second Exodus is going to be such a big deal that people will no longer talk about the first one because they will be too busy talking about the second one!

How Exciting!

That was such an exciting thing to have discovered!  This is why I am a firm believer in reading from Genesis to Revelation each year.  We can never exhaust His Word.  There is always something new that The Father is waiting to show us.

Speaking of...I learned something new about the whole "blood on the doorpost" portion of Passover this year, too.  The shedding of blood at the threshold of a home was an ancient practice, already well known at the time of the Passover in Egypt.  It was called a "threshold covenant."  The Father used a custom that His people already understood to teach them about His covenant.  He is such a gracious God!
My husband applied grape juice as a symbol for blood to our doorpost.

If you are interested in reading more about the threshold covenant, look up the book by that title written by Henry Clay Trumbull.  It is free on Gutenberg or inexpensive in print on amazon.

Our time of remembrance and celebration ended as it has for the past 5 years with a toast and the saying, "Next Year in Jerusalem!"
Next Year in Jerusalem!

It is truly my heart's desire to worship during Feast time in Jerusalem.  Will it be next year?  I cannot say, but Friends, look up...

He is coming soon!
