Unleavened Bread Recipes
Are you looking for some unleavened bread? If you are local to me, you can find it at Publix in the international aisle (aisle 3). It will taste like cardboard, but there are many ways to jazz it up. Some people like to dip it in chocolate...or spread with a topping like peanut butter or chicken salad. You can bake it in a pan with butter and cinnamon...I even have one friend who uses it to make baked lasagna. The possibilities are as creative as you can imagine!
For a tastier version of unleavened bread, consider making your own. It's a very simple bread, and you probably already have the ingredients on hand. I will link a few recipes below. Enjoy!
Whether you enjoy eating "gluten free" or not, I think you may really enjoy this gluten/grain free recipe from Elana's Pantry. It's probably my favorite matzah and a real crowd pleaser. (For any of you who follow Elana's food blog, as I went to grab this recipe, I found her recent obituary. May her memory be for a blessing!)
This recipe is for a soft variety of unleavened bread from Southern Plate. It is simple to make, and it tastes much better than anything you can buy from the grocery store. (Some of you may recognize that this is the recipe that Christy Jordan, formally of Southern Plate, more recently of Seeking Scripture, developed. If you are looking for a great Bible study, check out her ministry!)
This is a classic recipe (crispy) from Once Upon a Chef. I haven't personally tried this one, but it looks just like a recipe I have used before. It's such a simple food that there aren't all that many variations.
If you make any of these recipes (or create your own!) let me know what you think. Happy feasting!
Bonappetit!
