Unleavened Bread Day 4

Murmuring and The Test of Manna:
Living a life of a Testy Follower of Jesus or an Overcomer/Bride Elect

Unleavened Bread is a time we think about getting the leaven or sin out of our lives. I would like to share a thought that as Jesus followers, we sometimes become “familiar” or “casual” with our LORD, and we forget that He is our Lord, our Master. And, we are a bride getting ready for His return. There are times our very words betray how we think of Him and how we live out who He is in our lives. This sin is not new. Fully depending on God, trusting His Good in all of life’s situations is not easy. Let’s read or listen to Exodus 16 for perspective.

This Scripture is the key to unlocking what God expects of His people. It also sheds light on His plan of Salvation, the remedy for our sin. First, note the murmuring/grumbling was not against Moses and Aaron, as the people thought. It was against God. When I talk ugly to someone or about someone, I am sinning against the person. And, I am sinning against God. Just as God heard the cry of His people in Egypt, He heard their grumbling. Also, noteworthy is that they were not “sitting” next to meat pots all day in Egypt; they were slaves in distress. So, consider, grumbling can lead to other sins, such as lying. It can also encourage others to grumble and stumble. Sadly, according to Numbers 11 and Numbers 21, God’s provisions did not stop the grumbling.

Second, the Manna was not just a provision, it was a test. In this chapter it was a test to see if directions could be followed, if God would be obeyed. I am sure that the directions were given exactly as God said. With excellent directions...what happened? This was not an education problem, it was a self will problem. We love to “do it ourselves” and then wonder why we end up in a stick pile of worms. Yuck! I am sure that the Holy Spirit pushed you forward in seeing that this Manna, Bread of Heaven is the pattern for our Savior, Jesus. There are many notices here. I see that the Manna is new every morning, that it is white and pure, that it came down from heaven, that it had to be gathered by each one individually.

Let’s take Exodus 18 and compare it to John 6:51. Jesus has promised that He is the Living Bread From Heaven and whoever eats this Bread will live forever. Like the Israelites in Exodus 18, we have been given instructions. Could it be a “test” of our obedience? Is it a promise that only Faith can help carry out? I think Yes to both. Jesus, is the Bread of Life . He is the provision that Father God has given for our Salvation. When Jesus rose to Heaven, we were supplied with the Holy Spirit, until His return for us. Going through life as a testy follower of Jesus, murmuring and complaining is the opposite of what Scripture calls us to do.

We are the Bride getting ready for the Bridegroom. We are waiting for Father to say to Jesus, “Go get your Bride.” And we look forward to seeing “Faithful and True” coming in the clouds!!!!

As a Bride elect our instructions are God’s Word, the Bible. And, with that what is at the end of “the test of our faithfulness?” Could Revelation 2:17 be the answer? “17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers/overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.” Hidden Manna/ Bread of Heaven-Wow! Father in Heaven, give us this day our daily bread!
